XCLNav Career Explorer - A Platform for College Career Services
Career services in college are helping students find jobs and what they need to expect for their future as professionals.
Our platform is helping college advisors to teach the same students how to create a detailed career plan for that future that will span their entire professional
life and match their stated goals. To achieve this we use in our platform two simple concepts a traveler uses to prepare for a long trip:
MAP - we call it the Business Genome Map; it describes in detail the internal structure of a generic business.
COMPASS - this represents existing career options a professional has when he/she joins a business; we call them the Foundational Career Paths.
At the end of their learning experience a student graduates not only with a diploma, but also with a lifelong targeted career detailed plan that will help them focus on their professional goals and avoid early mistakes. We call this representation of a career plan a Visual Resume.
Introduction to Our Platform
XCLNav Career Explorer can be deployed on Amazon Web Services. Each college has its own dedicated server. The platform offers college advisors the ability to monitor the progress of each student. The service is sold as a paid subscription based on the number of students.
XCLNav Career Explorer application has six sections, last one is help.
- Main - this section is where the user can see the overall progress on the course and quizzes
- Career Course - this section is where the user learns about the way a business is modeled by the XCLNav platform. It has few modules with lectures and quizzes
- Career Planner - this section is where a user can use the application to enter the data for the Visual Resume that represents his or her career path. There are three sections. One is the Designer where the user enters data, one is Exxplorer where the user can look at various job roles. The section called Analyze is where the user can calculate the Gainful Employment Score together with analyzing the career path for bad patterns.
- Mentor Network - this section is where users can exchange advices
- Personal Planner - this section captures the TODO list
- Application - this section is where the user finds more information about various concepts used by the platform
One of the most important feature is the ability to calculate for an existing resume the Gainful Employment Score. This score has two components. One is Operational, and one is Managerial related. The score may range from 0 to 800 and it is similar to the one used by the credit score. The algorithm takes into consideration a wide variety of parameters and rules associated with a career path.
This score is now only for business roles. There is a draft for IT roles too.
